ROKiT British F4 launch shortlisted for ‘Best Live Event’

The ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA has been shortlisted under the ‘Best Live Event’ category for the inaugural The Race Media Awards, in recognition of its 2022 launch event.

Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series commemorated the start of a new era, including a brand new car in the Tatuus T-421 and title partner in ROKiT, with an event held at Motorsport UK’s Bicester Heritage headquarters back in November.

Set against the backdrop of the former RAF Bomber base’s historic aircraft hangar, an audience comprised of media, teams, drivers, and stakeholders from all levels of the motorsport pyramid up to and including Formula 1 had their first glimpse into the future of entry-level single-seater racing.

The championship also took the opportunity to announce more of the prize structure for 2022, not least the opportunity for the champion to embed themselves within McLaren’s Formula 1 team at the 2023 British Grand Prix, including full access to both the drivers and the engineering setup.

ROKiT set the tone for the new partnership with the globally-recognised first step on the FIA’s Single Seater pathway with the launch of Racing Star, a scheme set up alongside the Fernley Foundation in the form of an e-sports competition, at the end of which one boy and one girl will be awarded fully-funded seats in the championship for 2023, with support from the Motorsport UK Academy.

Overall, the event proved a landmark moment in what has been a busy winter period for the new-look series, the latest of which has been the start of testing as teams hit the track with the stars – and cars – set to make up the ‘Class of 2022’ later this year.

Motorsport UK has also received a nomination for the Girls on Track UK initiative under the category of ‘Most Inspiring Campaign’, with the winners set to be announced and celebrated at an event in London next Wednesday [9 February].
