Hitech GP kick off 2022 signings with Eduardo Coseteng and Daniel Mavlyutov

Hitech GP have unveiled Eduardo Coseteng and Daniel Mavlyutov as their first two drivers set to contest the 2022 ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA.

The Silverstone-based team are one of three new outfits to sign up for the new era in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series, under the organisation of Motorsport UK, and are currently out in the Middle East competing in F4 UAE to gain crucial mileage with the new-for-2022 Tatuus T-421.

Coseteng is no stranger to the series, having completed a full-season campaign with Argenti Motorsport in 2021. The Filipino racer ended his season on a high, securing a maiden pole position and podium finish at the Brands Hatch finale.

“I am extremely grateful and excited to be joining Hitech in the upcoming 2022 British F4 season,” said Coseteng.

“I would like to thank everyone involved, such as my sponsors Petron Corporation and Autoplus Sports Centre, and of course my parents and my other supporters. I can’t wait to start the 2022 season especially with this great team behind me working together to reach extraordinary heights.”

The 18-year-old’s experience on the UK’s notoriously-challenging circuits could prove vital as the team aim to hit the ground running, an advantage shared in part by his new team-mate Mavlyutov.

Having made his car racing debut at Brands Hatch’s world-famous Formula Ford Festival last October, the 17-year-old followed up with an outing at the Walter Hayes Trophy around Silverstone’s National circuit and a further trip to Kent for the ‘Champion of Brands’ event, impressing on each of the three occasions.

“I am excited to be joining Hitech for the impressive new-generation British F4 series,” added Mavlyutov.

“This will be my first ever full race season of any category, so in terms of car and circuits, I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”

Hitech’s Team Manager Dominic Stott welcomed both drivers into the fold and expects the pairing to hit the ground running when competitive action gets underway.

“We are excited to welcome both Eduardo and Daniel onboard for the 2022 season,” said Stott.

“The team have been working hard to have the new cars ready and the work we have already done on track will hopefully allow us to have a strong start to the season.

“With Eduardo we have a podium finisher in the series’ previous guise, so we look to build on that by challenging at the front consistently. We aim to give Daniel as much experience as possible to progress in his first full year of racing to maximise his potential.”

Coseteng and Mavlyutov’s announcement means that six drivers have now confirmed their place on the grid for 2022, following Ugo Ugochukwu (Carlin), Edward Pearson (Virtuosi) and both Aiden Neate and Daniel Guinchard (both Argenti).

Seven of Europe’s leading junior single seater teams have begun testing the new second-generation FIA F4 car, complete with a Halo-style safety device, reinforced side anti-intrusion panels and on-board safety signalling systems. Each will be presented with new opportunities as the series switches to Abarth powertrains and Pirelli control tyres for 2022, with the ten-event, 30-race season set to commence at Donington Park, Leicestershire on 23-24 April.
