The Phinsys by Argenti racer led team mate Daniel Guinchard by a tenth of a second at the top of the timesheets in a red flag-interrupted final session, setting a 1:24.428 around the 2.4-mile Grand Prix circuit to take the early bragging rights.

Louis Sharp (Carlin) rounded out the top three, the Kiwi rising star a further tenth and a half back. Virtuosi Racing’s Edward Pearson was fastest in the morning session, and his time of 1:24.819 was enough to keep him fourth overall amidst a flurry of improvements after lunch.

Joseph Loake (JHR Developments) was fifth in both sessions individually, but collectively sixth behind Carlin’s Ugo Ugochukwu, the McLaren junior looking to bring home the Rookie Cup title over Guinchard in Kent this weekend.

Ollie Gray is the only driver who can still mathematically deny Alex Dunne the coveted crown, but the Williams junior could only steer his Carlin machine to seventh on Friday. JHR pair Georgi Dimitrov and Noah Lisle sandwiched Virtuosi’s Michael Shin to round out the top ten.

Fortec Motorsport’s James Higgins came close to breaking into the top ten, but had to settle for the 12th-fastest time behind Hitech’s Eduardo Coseteng. Argenti’s Adam Fitzgerald was next, with Marcos Flack (Fortec) 14th.

Hitech’s Oliver Stewart, Chris Dittmann Racing pairing Jack Sherwood and Jaden Pariat, Argenti’s Isaac Barashi and Daniel Mavlyutov (Hitech) rounded out the 19-strong field.

The competitive action begins with qualifying at 11:35 (BST) tomorrow, the opening race following later on at 16:25. To view the full session results, click here.
